New website, new work.
Here are two recent(ish) sketches added to the landscape section. Both plein air pieces, the first outside my house and the second in my hometown of Penarth. I was really drawn to the way the cliffs receded into the haze. The spring weather has really picked up here, so I should have more to show in the coming weeks.
I try to make frames that complement the mood of the piece. The first is oak, a simple angled profile, finished to a high gloss, intended to enhance the texture of the foliage . The second is painted in a neutral water based paint, gilded edges. One day I’ll share the process behind the frames in more depth.
I expect to provide an update once a month, share a few recent works, a practical tip or two, and a quote.
“ perception should have its meaning only in relation to all other factors; that all sizes, all lights and shades, all colors, etc., have only relative values. Everything depends on reciprocal relationships; everything influences the value of everything else. When we speak, therefore, of a total impression, we refer to the effect produces by the co-operation of all the factors in the perceptual form.”
Wishing you a productive month of art!
